Lightfleet is running 2007A
Currently running 2007A Beta
Our consultant said there were still problems with v2007 and advised against going to it now.
For you who are running it what is your experience? Good or bad????
Eric: Our experience has been very good. We went live on November 30, 2007. I'm a scheduler, not involved in tracking software problems - unless they directly relate to my responsibilities. The woman, who led the conversion, is very knowledgeable re: Business One + has a detailed understanding of what is required to successfully implement software. I'm sure that having her on board is a major factor in our on-going success with V2007A. Perhaps there are V2007 issues specific to your company prompt your consultant's warning? Did the consultant provide details regarding perceived problems? JG
Eric: We're not running 2007 yet for similar reasons: our consultant (with Navigator) advised against, but the reason is not clear (we are piloting 2005 A SP 2 right now). That's why I posed the question to see if others were using it. I also wondered if the features that seem to be missing in 2005 were going to show up along with a lot of other improvements.
Were you using 2005 before going to 2007? If so, did you find it much better (feature enhancements, ease of use, help, fixes, etc)?
To get a better idea of what to ecpect in 2007A as stacekd up against 2005A SP01 you should become familiar with the Release Notes for 2007A.
I have attached the changed features document for 2007A - it may be helful.
Mike: Yes, we were using 2005 prior to going to 2007. The enhancement that impacts my work the most is the addition of the release date (aka: recommended start date of production order or purchase order based upon lead time) on the order recommendation screen. One annoyance is 2007 doesn't allow wildcard search using asterisk before search criteria (e.g., 2007 allows search 8* to pull up all purchase orders starting with 8. It does not allow *25 to pull up all purchase orders ending in 25). I've asked my very knowledgeable colleague to join the discussion; if she has the bandwidth to comment, she will provide much info.
Does your company use third party add-ons with Business One? Perhaps, there are buggy issues associated with 2007 + third party add-ons? JG
Jeannette: Yes, we are using Production One and Report One add-ins from Navigator Bus Soln. I suspect they are not ready for the B1 2007 edition for some reason or another (bugs or late) and hence, are not recommending it at this time. I am sorry to hear about the "regression" of the * wildcard feature in 2007. I wonder why?
Regarding the "recommended start date" you mentioned, I fully understand your joy with 2007. Having used 10 ERP/MRP packages during my career, I was surprised by the rather "sparse" 2005 MRP Recommendation Report, so I wrote a Crystal Report to supplement the SAP B1 version. I added many "missing" (but useful) fields of information such as: Lead Time, Start Date (I calculated it backward from Due Date using LT), MinOQ, OrdMult, MinLvl, OnHand, and OnOrd. I found these fields valuable to help make good decisions about orders and test validity. For example, 2005 has a "bug" where if the order is red/late/past due, it does not suggest an order quantity that includes the MinOrderQty for that item. 9 of 10 times, one would want to release an order for the MinOQ, not just the immediate need. With MinOQ handy, you can easily override the recommended qty on these past due orders.
I was hoping 2007 would come with a bunch more of these "missing" fields, and not just Release Date. Although my supplemental report is integrated into SAP with an add-on, it does not replace the built-in Recommendation Report because I haven't figured out a way to get the Create checkbox in my report in order to release orders. I may have to figure out a way to integrate it fully, or get these "missing" fields on their report. Any help or advise is appreciated.
Carl: Thanks for the advise and doc. I should have mentioned that I already read that over (Dec 2007 version of Release Notes). I was looking for some specifics from actual users, like Jeannette gave. Mike
Mike: I've been advised that a B1 add-on is required to obtain a robust planning tool. I'm reviewing SoftBrand's Fourth Shift and Navigator's Production One + APS packages. JG
We are piloting Production One now. Feel free to call me: 602-439-0600 x204. AZ Std. time. Mike
Mike: Thank you providing your phone number re: questions about P1. Would you consider posting your observations on this discussion forum by adding a new string with subject: Production One Pilot? JG
Jeannette: I will try to answer any questions you post about P1. I do not want to post any unsolicited and random opinions about P1. However, I will talk openly with you if you call. Mike
