This note describes how to request a license key for SAP Business One.

You have installed your SAP Business One software and wish to request your license key. You have received authorization for the license key request. If you have questions about the user administration or the relevant authorization, you can create a message under the XX-SER-OSS-USR component.

      Solution
      Dear SAP Customer,

Before you request a license key, you should always check the number of released users. You can check this number in the system data maintenance check under service.sap.com/system-data or by following the path below:

      Internet address service.sap.com/sbo-licensekey
      Request license key
      Select the relevant installation.
Select "Contractual agreements" on the top right of the screen in your system details.

This shows you your contractually licensed users and released users. If you exceed the number of contractually licensed users, you will only receive a temporary license for 14 days. Check whether you can reduce the number of released users or delete old systems (see SAP note 614911 and 596562).

Requesting a license key for a new system

After you install SAP Business One, you can use the system for 31 days. After this period expires, you will no longer be able to access SAP Business One. You can apply for your license key online on SAP Service Marketplace, under the Internet address service.sap.com/sbo-licensekey.

      Click "Request license key".
      Select your installation number.
      Click "Request new system".
      Enter all the necessary data.
Choose "Submit" to send your request to SAP.

Your license key will be available on SAP Service Marketplace immediately after it has been assigned. Using Cut&Paste, copy the license key from SAP Service Marketplace to a local file. You can then import this file into your SAP Business One. You will also receive the license key by e-mail.

Requesting a license key for an existing system

You can also request a new license key for an existing SAP Business One System. This is the case, for example, if the customer hardware key or the number of users has changed. You can apply for your license key online on SAP Service Marketplace, under the Internet address service.sap.com/sbo-licensekey.

      Click "Request license key".
      Select your installation number.
Click "Change system details" before the system ID.
      Change your data.
Choose "Submit" to send your request to SAP.

Important information regarding the number of licensed users
You have contractually determined a particular number of users that must not be exceeded on any account because you will only receive a temporary license key if the number of users is exceeded. Check the number of released users in your installation as described above.

Upgrading Version 6.X to Release 2004
You have already requested a system with x users and received an unlimited license key for this system. You are now upgrading your system and want an unlimited license key for your x users. Request a new license key for your existing system as described as above and note that the number of users is already preassigned. However, you can change the number of users.

For more information, go to the Internet address mentioned above.

      Kind regards,
