Barbara thrives at the intersection of people, process, and technology. Striking a balance between empathy – the human element – and the needs of the business can be tricky: sometimes it’s about using bleeding-¬edge technologies to pique curiosity, sometimes it’s about casual, collaborative activities. But Barbara believes that it's always about translating business requirements into career development plans that make employees better for themselves and SAP.
“You own your own career, but you are not on your own.” This is Barbara’s mantra in her role as head of Career Development in the Talent and Leadership CoE. She is driven to bring SAP’s philosophy “Everyone Is a Talent” to life for each employee. Barbara believes that when we are happy with our individual roles, we also help propel SAP forward. Her current project will bring Pop-Up Career Success Centers to employees in offices around the world. Barbara is an award-winning employee who maintains thought leadership in not only Career Development but also in the broader Learning discipline. An accomplished and certified Instructional Designer, she is an example of the career success story she would like to see every employee have. After having risen through the ranks, starting as a trainer for Global Marketing, she’s held leadership roles in SAP’s Services University and now HR. Prior to her tenure at SAP, she was a Principal Process Consultant for Sungard SCT (now Ellucian) serving higher education ERP customers in North America, and Director of Instructional Technology at her alma mater.
Barbara holds both her Master of Science degree in Education and Bachelor of Arts (Summa Cum Laude) degree in Communications from Wilkes University, Wilkes-¬Barre, PA. Additionally, she’s the proud mom of two sons. When she’s not sewing, you can probably catch her watching New York Yankees baseball. She’s also an active contributor to Soldiers’ Angels, a non-¬profit organization dedicated to U.S. troops deployed globally.
