    from Durga PK Saitana :
From note Note 1140258 - Installation of SAP Solution Manager Enterprise Edition

    from Dave :
We had an ABAP only SM 7 (no Enterprise) and recently re-installed onto a new box with EHP 1 and Java.  Thus, we have turned our old system into a dev env (once we migrate all the solutions and content).  We had to do this to get Java as it could not be added to the existing ABAP only system.

    from Durga PK Saitana :
    Reason and Prerequisites

You have installed SAP Solution Manager. With SPS 18 (identical to EHP 1) the SAP Solution Manager Enterprise Edition is activated automatically. The activation steps described further down in this note are not required.

    from SaskPower :
SaskPower has successfully upgraded to Solman 7.01 and is proceeding with a project to leverage key features and capabilities to improve operational processes.  We will be participating in Expert Guided session later this month

    from Natanael Hernandez :
Honeywell Aerospace is on SM EHP1 SP 2 and we have successfuly deployed  Charm, BPM, Service Desk and we are currently working on System Monitoring. So far we have been able to gather the right information from the business in order to make it a successful tool and implementation of SM

    from Richard Howard :
Georgia-Pacific recently completed the Expert Guided Implementation on 7.01. I can provide feedback if anyone interested. rlhoward at gapac.com

    from Ted Duong :
Thanks for the offer.  I'll take you up on it.

    from Deidre Logan :
Goodyear has had solution manager for a while and upgraded and done a unicode conversion.  We have SolMan 7.01 sp3.  We have the SSO error in the Workcenters and find Solution Manager buggy

    from Dave :
We also used the Expert Guided Implementation and during the process there was a long list of notest o apply to our EHP1, SP 19 installation.

    from Natanael Hernandez :
here is my contact.. nathanael.hernandez at honeywell.com

    from Natanael Hernandez :
to Leon.. if I dont know the answer I will make sure to find the right contact to provide it..

    from Paul :
Has anyone tried to use the change analyzer?

    from Natanael Hernandez :
to Deidre.. make sure that time on the server and its app server, if any, are in sync. that should resolve the SSO error

    from Leon Johnson :
    We have a little bit.

    from Deidre Logan :
    there is no application server

    from Jesse Gonzales :
Is the SSO issue specific to an SM Upgrade?  Sysco is in the design phase and implemented SM EHP1 and have not implemented the workcenters yet

    from Deidre Logan :
    just a little server

    from Natanael Hernandez :
to Deidre. has your basis team re-imported the SSO credentials into SM.. could be that the certificate/credential, might have gotten corrupted

    from Deidre Logan :
not yet... we have it on the list to try

    from Natanael Hernandez :
again the SSO might be a task to be address by basis and in the end if no solution is found .. you will have to place a high customer message to SAP

    from Deidre Logan :
    I am basis

    from Kevin Flattery :
we have SSO issue with EHP1 SP19 that we did not have with SP17.  In workload analysis everytime you hit a new button you are prompted for login.  If you just hit cancel it presents the data

    from Tiffany :
We have SM 7.0.  Is it SM 7.01 required  to implement ERP6.0 EHP4?

    from Natanael Hernandez :
try the re-import of the credentials.. if no luck I would suggets a very high message to SAP..

    from Vince Laurent :
What is the staffing level/people head count to manage your current SolMan environment?

    from Dave :
We have HA (MSCS) for our SM installation since it is used as central monitoring and alerting to all of our other PRD SAP systems.

    from Buzz Holmes :
For those that have a DEV and PROD system - is DEV fully configured and operational with all the boxes that PROD does?

    from Kevin Flattery :
7.01 is not required for EHP4 but you do need MOPZ extended functionality

    from Richard Howard :
Buzz .. our dev is not.  Just used to test new SP's.

    from Salpi Makdessian :
We Bombardier Aerospace have HA on our SM Prod system...we also have a sandbox, dev and QA systems.

    from plf :
Has anyone looked into using Sol Man tool Self Services?

    from Dave :
Buss, before (our DEV is currently down) our DEV was configured with most functions that we use in RPD and connected to our Snadbox systems only.  We were only using Implementation Assistnat, central monitoring/alerting, EWA, SLA, and BPM solutions.

    from Natanael Hernandez :
interesting Salpi.. we only got a Sandbox and prod

    from Salpi Makdessian :
you need to have at LEAST a Dev system to be able to configure and test ChaRM.

    from Durga PK Saitana :
    Question to the group

    from Durga PK Saitana :
we are planning to separate Prod vs non prod env configuration in solman prod and dev env

    from Durga PK Saitana :
if we enaable charm, we have configure all our Nonprod and prod solution manager

    from Salpi Makdessian :
we implement all SPs in our sandbox while we are doing our ongoing Dev work then move them up our landscape to Prd.

    from Dave :
Buzz, we are also now setting up all the E2E functions and are not sure if we will configure this in DEV also.  Primary reason is it is a lot of work to setup all these E2E solutions (Change Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, Trace Analysis, etc.)

    from RussJ :
Have you installed End to End RCA, and therefore ultimately Unicode as well? Do you use E to E?

    from Dave :
RussJ, we are setting this up now in PRD and yes we are Unicode for all our systems.

    from RussJ :
Or, it appears EtoE gets installed with the EN Pack

    from Dave :
RussJ, no it does not.  There are many more pieces to set this up - Wily Introscope installaion/config, SMD agents on managed systems, etc.

    from Dave :
Related, to this, are people using a central SLD for SM or a local SLD within the SM system?

    from Dave :
by "central SLD" I mean a standalone, central SLD instance.

    from Ted Duong :
    We use a central SLD

    from Brian :
We found it best to use the local SLD and have the data from the Central SLD syc with the local sld.

    from Kevin Flattery :
local SLD within SM that gets updates from all other SLDs

    from Maria :
Local SLD in SM and fed updates from other SLDs

    from Brian :
Local sld fed from other sld's is SAP's recomendation

    from Maria :
so the one in SM becomes the central SLD

    from Dave :
great, thanks for the SLD input.  We currently are planning what Brian described.

    from Kevin Flattery :
    pretty much

    from Brian :
no, all sattelite sytems report to the central SLD, and the central SLD pushes data to the local sld.

    from chander :
Hi All we are planning to upgrade from sp13 to Enh pack1 anything need to aware about?

    from Maria :
You will need to be to SP 16 or so

    from Maria :
before you can go to EHP1

    from chander :
sp from sp16 we can go directly to enh 1

    from Rob Solomon :
is that version 8 of introscope?

    from Maria :
    yes

    from chander :
    thanks

    from Maria :
    8.02 i believe

    from Maria :
    it is the latest one

    [ Introscope WebView Release 8.1.0.0 (Build 472023) ] - Jim

    from Dan Marburger :
Regarding Basis resource requirements, it varies with the complexity and number of SAP systems as well as what SM functionality you implement.  With a large number of SAP systems and java, it is a lot of work just to set up and maintain the E2E and Wily tools, much less if you are going to actually use to monitor and troubleshoot a lot of SAP systems.

    from Ted Duong :
for wily, check out the main note 797147

    from Frank :
How many "Systems" does B&D have?

    [ 19. Solution Manager Workcenter sees 15 today ] - Jim

    from Ted Duong :
Thanks Jim ( Rich B from Chevron)

    from Dave :
we had issues with some of the CRT's during the upgrade from sp13 to EHP1.  Also, there was a package missing that was not included automatically with the download of the support pack stack - "PI Basis SAP-70101INPIBASIS has to be included in the list of components, eventhough you want to go to SP2 PI Basis SAP-70102INPIBASIS"

    from wally :
the latest wily version is 8.1. We just implemented that in Prod last week. It gives 50% more capacity

    from Ted Duong :
you can enter the  SAP-70101INPIBASIS in SAINT during the process of apply EHP1

    from Frank :
You mentioned that SM takes up about 5 to 10% of BASIS human resouces.  How many BASIS folks do you have at B&D?

    [ 5 ] - Jim

    from Dan McGrann :
you mentioned the new monitoring infrastructue.  do you know if there are any pre-reqs (SAP versions) for that?  Thanks.

    from Satish Arram :
May I know the workcenter functionalities available in EhP1?

    from Jesse Gonzales :
how much of what you installed of SM was influenced by your integrators?

    from Rakesh Nagula :
We have implemented GRC in Solman SP17 and would like to enhance solman EHP-1(sp19) - so would it effect already implemented GRC

    from Rakesh Nagula :
    ??

    from wally :
    pre-req is EHP2

    from Damean :
How many resource is solely dedicated to Solution Manager?

    from _BITI_Jim_Spath_ :
    my email = james.spath at bdk.com

    from Dan Marburger :
Regarding SLD strategy for your SAP ecosystem, there is not one answer that fits all customers.  It depends on what solutions you have implemented, their criticality and the degree to which they have runtime dependence on SLD.  But for SM, typically best to use local SLD  and have the data from the Central SLD syc with the local sld as Brian already suggested.

    from Jesse Gonzales :
    yes

    from Mark :
he already answered the resource issue.  1 person a couple of hours a week

    from Frances Garvey :
If you would like to ask a question, please press *1 on your telephone keypad.

    from Jesse Gonzales :
    but not sap

    from Jesse Gonzales :
    deloitte is ours

    from Manjeet :
Our IS-Oil SAP environment is 4.7B. Do you think we weill need to upgrade it before we can monitor this landscape with SM 7?

    from Dave :
Damean, we have half of 1 Basis FTE and half of 1 FTE Solman 'functional" person managing SM

    from Rakesh Nagula :
We have implemented GRC in Solman SP17 and would like to enhance solman EHP-1(sp19) - so would it effect already implemented GRC ??

    ? from Paul :
Jim, approx how long would it take to implement Sol Mgr? With how many people?

    ? from George Burmeister :
Regarding CHaRM, did you consider 3rd party solutions?

    ? from Kate :
What other tools are you using for monitoring?

    ? from Jesse Gonzales :
Jim, how did you develop your solutions in solution Manager (BPR) and did you develop templates?  If you haven't are you aware of the issues you will face when you try to do E2E?

    from Vince Laurent :
We use HP IT/Operations (montioring) and Remedy (HelpDesk)

    ? from plf :
Under Service Plan...is BDK using Self Delivered Services...? and for what...?

    from Kevin Flattery :
with EHP1,  E2E functionality is independent of solutions

    from Ken Ebest :
You can transport with native STMS

    from James Burns :
Yes you can move transports but only manually.

    from wally :
we use charms. we have backup procedure for when charms is down

    from Manjeet :
    Thansk James.

    from wally :
we can run transports when solman is being upgraded etc

    from Ruth Ciamarra :
If we run out of time to get to all the Chat questions, we will collect them and post them later to the Discussion Forum.

    from Manjeet :
    Thanks Ken and Wally.

    from Karin Tillotson :
    Great job Jim - thanks!

    from _BITI_Jim_Spath_ :
    #BITIpeeps rule!

    from Manjeet :
Wally...what exactly do you mean when you say you have a backup system for transports if Charm goes down?

    from Karin Tillotson :
    yes they do - #BITIpeeps w00t!

    from RussJ :
You need Solman anyway for upgrade keys (well, officially anyways).

    from Dave :
    ...and installation keys

    from Satish Arram :
yes you need to reconfigure the solution manager diagnostics with upgrading to EHP1

    from Mark :
sps20 is out, is there any concerns going to this level?

    from RussJ :
Yes, Dave correct. So hopefully the caller who does not use SOlMAN now knows it is required.

    from Ted Duong :
    Thank you, Jim.

    from RussJ :
    Awesome presentation!

    from Ron :
    Great!!!!!!

    from Vince Laurent :
    Thanks

    from Satish Arram :
    Thank you for sharing
